What is ServerlessWP?

ServerlessWP puts WordPress in serverless functions (on Vercel, Netlify, or AWS Lambda). WordPress runs in lightweight containers that scale up and down based on how much traffic is being received by the website. There are no servers to maintain.

ServerlessWP began as an experiment but it’s now a viable, and in many ways better, hosting option for blogs, documentation, and most basic types of WordPress websites.

ServerlessWP is an independently maintained open-source project with a goal to lower the barriers to more sustainable WordPress hosting.

Quick start

  1. Get a free GitHub account if you don’t already have one.
  2. Use one of the deployment links to create a project with Vercel (recommended) or Netlify. Those tools will create a copy of ServerlessWP in GitHub for you and will set up your serverless hosting for you.
  3. Set up and link a database with your new site. The first screen you see after completing your initial deployment will have more details.
  4. Start using your new serverless WordPress website!
